Ok ya’ll before you start literally drooling reading about these brunch spots, let me introduce you to our next contributor, Mackenzie Newcomb of Mack In Style. Trust me, this New Yorker knows a thing or two about bottomless mimosa brunches…
Xo,
Becca
It’s no secret that New Yorkers have mastered the art of breakfast food. After all, our bagels are world renowned. What’s a little less known, is that weekend brunch is at the center of most young New Yorker’s social calendars. Weekend brunch is one of the best opportunities to explore the city’s high-end restaurants for less than the dinner menu, many of which include bottomless mimosas.
Over the past month I’ve had the opportunity to eat at some of the NYC’s most popular weekend hangouts, and have rounded up my suggestions for your brunch.
The Daisy- 1641 2nd Ave, New York, NY
“Every brunch is Beyonce Brunch at the Daisy” our server Blake told us. I was dancing in my seat. The brunch drinks were excellent, and bottomless. The cuisine was mainly contemporary Mexican. My boyfriend insisted that they have the best huevos rancheros he’s ever had, as they hit the perfect equilibrium between not-too-soggy and not-too-dry. I found myself most infatuated with the smoked salmon avocado benedict on top of an “everything” biscuit. However, the best part was the blueberry bread pudding with foie gras butter.
Gastroteca Astoria- 33-02 34th Ave, Queens, NY
Owned by a couple of young restaurateurs, Gastroteca is debatably the best brunch spot in Astoria. The ambience is excellent; plenty of natural lighting and windows everywhere, as well as outdoor seating options. Their menu is excellent, featuring Italian inspired dishes that you won’t find anywhere else in the neighborhood. Make sure to order the Zeppolles for the table (banana ricotta donuts with a nutella sauce), as they will change your life. Other favorites include the chicken & waffles and the breakfast lasagna.
Alice’s Tea Cup– Multiple Manhattan Locations
For as long as I can remember, I have been an advocate for more tea parties. Alice’s Tea Cup allows you to visit Wonderland for all-day tea parties and weekend brunch. They don’t serve alcohol, but they do offer a massive selection of gourmet teas, if you want a caffeine fix before exploring the city. This is the perfect place to go if you want a unique brunch experience and you’re traveling with someone underage. I highly recommend their smoked salmon benedict, which is served on top of a scone! ‘
Essex– 120 Essex Street, Manhattan, NY
Essex is the kind of restaurant that is never empty, and it makes perfect sense. There’s two floors, bright lighting, and plenty of tables meant for big groups. There were more than 4 birthday parties going on during our brunch alone. For $29.99 you get bottomless drinks and an entree. You’ll find no shortage of southern and seafood inspired options, and you’ll never see the bottom of your drink. This is the perfect place to take a large group, but don’t forget to make a reservation!
Agave– 140 7th Ave, Manhattan, NY
Agave is probably upwards of one of the most popular brunch joints in the city. Their drinks are bottomless, as brunch should be done. The ambience is bright and simple, and the party is always poppin’. If you want to eat at here, you should definitely make a reservation. They also serve the best lobster benedict I’ve ever had, and I’m from Boston (thus, a lobster snob.)
Carroll Place- 157 Bleecker Street, Manhattan, NY
Carroll Place is a popular brunch staple among those who live in Greenwich Village. During the weekend, they offer a 2 hour bottomless brunch for only $25. I’ll be honest, this isn’t the best place to get an insta-shot. However, if you’d rather eat your food than photograph it, there is a 100% chance you’ll leave satisfied by any of their entrees. I ordered “Eggs in Purgatory”; baked eggs in spicy tomato sauce with polenta. My guest, Lily had the “Buon Giorno Pizza” and she said every bite was just as exciting as the last.
Pampano NYC– 209 E 49th Street, Manhattan, NY
It’s all in the details at Pampano in Midtown. It’s pretty much guaranteed you’ll take a solid insta at this Mexican fine-dining restaurant; especially on their cool terrace patio. The food is well-styled and unique, and the tableware is inspiring. For $49 you get bottomless Sangria, Margaritas and Bloody Mary’s. They aren’t a bargain brunch option, but it shows in the food. Everything they serve, in one way or another, is unlike anything else I’ve experienced in New York.
Cheers!
